Listening to the War Room podcast with Al Hunt and James Carville, they were interviewing two experts on crime on how to reduce crime. One of them, I think it was David Kennedy, said when he is addressing a room of people, men and women, in an at risk neighborhood to violent crime, he says to the women "You know that there is no stupider organism on the planet than an adolescent with his friends watching." Which the women apparently agree to from their own hard experience. I think this is the quote most germane to so much today. By the way, this principle also applies to overgrown adolescents, as indeed it looks to me like the Trump Administration is filled with adolescent brains of all ages.
This deeply dysfunctional killer of Kirk, if I understand the Groyper world correctly, was performing a violent act to impress and amuse his young man nihilistic Groyper audience. Boom, murder, horrible consequences for the country.
The criminologists on the podcast were saying that every city today knows that the terrible crime they face comes from a very small number of young men who are in blood feuds, and the way to reduce the crime is intervention at the local level to pull them out of the cycle of violent retaliation. And these programs are remarkably effective and violent crime, although always too high, has dramatically dropped as a result of targeted social intervention. As one of them said, the police know you cannot arrest your way out of the problem. It takes targeted social intervention to give them a way out of the retaliation cycle.
So, I take this truth about the cycle of retaliatory violence and apply it to the assassination of Charlie Kirk by a 22 year old young man lost in the dark world of Groper nihilism. Trump, and Stephen Miller, and JD Vance, and Fox News are doing the exactly wrong thing: they are calling for an escalation of violence by Their Gang against who they falsely claim are their Enemy Gang - liberals.
This will only escalate the violence, of course. And that is what Trump and Vance want: more violence so that they can declare martial law and suspend the 2026 elections and stay in power, because they know they will lose in 2026 due to their amazingly harmful and unpopular policies of their Big Beautiful Bill, and due to the exposure of their deeply corrupt and criminal natures as they try to suppress the Epstein evidence, rake in billions in government created crypto scams, and endless violations of the rule of law and the Constitution.
The Gang in the White House and Congress needs to rouse its gang all across the country to attack and destroy the "enemy gang" - Democrats and liberals of all stripes.
We are in a dangerous time. I give no real credit to the Orange Bully for strategy, I think his life long operating principle is simple - "What benefits me?" and "I get to do whatever the hell I want to do."
But, his MAGA movement includes people who are very aware of the tried and tested strategies to end democracy and establish a fascist police state - crush all forms of resistance - Congress, Courts, Education, News, Entertainment, Culture - all forms of Free Thought.
They are clear that they want only one law of the land - "You Shall Obey!"
